I would love to see that exhibition - I somehow missed exhibits of bling when I was traveling around India.

You're totally right - "slightly" is an understatement. As for what people remember, most of what I remember is 1) Shashi being pretty and 2) wondering why we saw so much skin if we're supposed to learn not to judge a book by its cover?Beth Loves Bollywoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05540154833326987567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-84169790988845468092008-05-07T05:30:00.000-05:002008-05-07T05:30:00.000-05:00Beth,The Mughals did have some amazing bling, but ...Beth,

The Mughals did have some amazing bling, but back then, a whole bunch of pricely states did that. The Salarjung museum in Hyderabad periodically has exhibitions of the Nizam's jewelry. I visited one of those in '06, and I gotta tell you, most of those women probably died of a broken neck from wearing all those boulders.

But that's not what caught my attention in this post. You called Satyam Shivam Sundaram slightly lechy. Slightly? :D

RK, of course, defended the movie saying people would come into the theatres to watch Zeenat Aman's... erm, assets, and go out remembering the movie. Many years after watching the movie, I still don't remember much else other than Zeenat. And I don't think it's just me either.

~rAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-58828682488971618952008-03-23T20:17:00.000-05:002008-03-23T20:17:00.000-05:00iq - Thank you! A perfect vacation, really.

DesiDivX - kewl!

Shweta - Very well put! I hadn't thought of Kabhi Kabhi like that but I think you're exactly right. I am so not interested in moroseness - thank goodness for Shashiliciousness to balance it out.Beth Loves Bollywoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05540154833326987567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-38850073159504565512008-03-20T10:29:00.000-05:002008-03-20T10:29:00.000-05:00That is definitely a interesting article. For myself, I've been devoted to Shashi since "Kabhi Kabhi"- a movie that was essentially dedicated (though I may be too harsh here) to Amit's moroseness- Shashi actually delivered a v natural and almost heartwarming performance. I really beleive that he firmly represented the "modern man" in the movie, an antithesis to the popular hero of the times.
Gosh I am SO glad he was a taxi- he can be a cab or bike or plane or whatever he likes, and take all the fares he wants!
:DShweta Mehrotra Gahlawathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13543438271055378809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-15625403827769877012008-03-20T00:03:00.000-05:002008-03-20T00:03:00.000-05:00hey beth, thought you might me interested in thisht...hey beth,
thought you might me interested in this
http://www.flickr.com/photos/decaflatte/2345264511/

cheers
raviDonnieBrascohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10725761560387292676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15977843.post-27465989301134041602008-03-19T21:45:00.000-05:002008-03-19T21:45:00.000-05:00Welcome back, Beth.
